Fox says Blu-Ray is winning the battle

Despite big supporters concern in regard to the high cost of mass producing Blu-Ray discs, many are still very optimistic about the direction this technology is headed. Recently, James Gianopulos, co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, stated that Blu-Ray high definition technology is currently has an edge as next media storage format. He sees this technology as a next HD standard for consumers due to Hollywood’s strong and diligent support.
In terms of the number of companies involved, the PS3 (PlayStation game console) momentum and the level of content that is committed to Blu-ray, it does seem to have a pretty strong lead,” said co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment at the Reuters Media and Advertising Summit in New York.
Furthermore Mr. Gianopulos believes that Blu-Ray has “the superior technology and backing terms of strength to market but also the superior content protection.”
Sony will include Blu-Ray technology with the PS3 when it launches sometime next year to compete against Xbox 360 and its HD-DVD. Although, Sony plans to lose money on their machine but hopefully gain enough market share to thwart off their opponent and set a groundbreaking standard for consumer. Fierce battle continues with billion dollars at stake.
Folks, we are in for some serious drama that will ensue when 2 giant companies go head to head next year. Just be humble about extremely hyped marketing and crazy promises. Remember games will make or break these next gen consoles.
