First Glimpse of Transformers: War For Cybertron, at DICE 2010

When we usually think of games based on movies or on comics, the general feeling is we would not touch it with a barge pole (at least in front of everyone). So I can be right to say that this game might just turn out to be another cash cow for the people trying to line their pockets. However if any of you saw the trailer when it first came out, you would have either said "Wow! That game is going to look amazing." or "This should have been made a movie." I was actually thinking both thoughts as well as you watched Optimus pull out a battle axe laced with energy.

For those who don't actually know what the DICE event is about, it is a two day event showcasing the developers' game to others' animation skill and there is an award ceremony to boost the ego of the developers who actually brought out good games. We are, however, interested in the games that are yet to be released. The one which I have been keeping my good eye on (unfortunately sty, an eye disease has claimed my left one for the moment) is the aforementioned Transformers game.

During an interview with the chaps at Gametrailers, the game director, Matt Tieger had stated that the game will be in third-person and has hinted there will be two campaigns. Tieger has also given us two morsels of information over the storyline; the first is that the Decepticon will see the player gather power and individuals for Megatron i.e. Starscream. He did make it clear that Starscream was never a Decepticon in the first place and you see why he join later on. The second piece is that Optimus has not been made a prime yet (big cheesy shock music). Tieger actually went on to say that Optimus didn't even want to be the leader of the Autobots. Again, this is story is very interesting to me because I have not personally follow the story of the Transformers from the comics and have always known Optimus to be the one and only leader of the Autobots. So if anyone wants to enlighten me on this subject feel free to leave a comment.

On the Gameplay front, Tieger has made comments that there will be levels consisting of flying, driving and mostly crushing the other opposition. From the video, it seems to offer a fast-paced action with the promise of fighting giant bosses (seems quite the standard now, fighting over-sized enemies). Whether we get to explore bits of Cybertron or get the know the background of it, that's probably not going to be known to the public for awhile, so keep your ears out for updates on this game.

All i know about Optimus is that he used to be a regular robot that went by the name Orion Pax. He was a dock worker who idolized a group of new robots who happened to be led by Megatron. Megatron being the asshole that he is beat the shit out of Orion and his girlfriend Ariel after trying to get some energon from the docks and Orion and Ariel were then rebuilt as Optimus Prime and Elita One who both command the Autobots (Optimus on Earth and Elita on Cybertron). Of course Optimus has a grudge against Megatron but i guess he never intended to lead a group of Decepticon haters lol.. so anyways Optimus accepts and fights Megatron and the Decepticons until they leave to Earth in search for energon with the Autobots right behind them. Damn thats a lot but im not even sure if this is completely correct and this is all from the animated show btw ive never read the comics so the comics may have a different story but if anyone reading wants to see the episode from the animated series im referring to its called "War Dawn"
