Please consider this well in the “rumor” category but a poster at NeoGAF by the name of consoul has told people not to get too excited “if you see a new firmware notification on your PS3 in the next few days. A minor update (2.36) is set for release shortly”. Consoul says in a later post that this update will include some security fixes and updates to a few games. And no, in game XMB will not be part of this release but hopefully still part of the upcoming 2.40.
