How many times have you just wanted to open up a freshly purchased game and start playing it only to have to sit through an interminably long install period? Or even worse, have to uninstall your latest “Naruto” theme just to make space for the game? Well, Bethesda Games feels your pain. Fallout 3 will not have an upfront install.When questioned about this specific benefit: “The answer to that is no, there isn’t (an install). That doesn’t mean we don’t use the hard drive, just that it does it in the background as opposed to a large, upfront install.”

The publisher has not confirmed how much hard drive space the game will use but confirmed it will be about the same as Oblivion (4-5 GB). This is no small amount but you will have the option to delete the data after every play through.
