EA Shutting Down Some Online Servers.

EA shutting down Servers

EA released a service update to anyone still playing older EA sports games online that several of the servers will be shut down as of February 2, 2010. Even if this may be a large disappointment for these older games, freeing up server space will provide more accessibility to new releases which require online servers.

"Servers for the games listed below will be shut down on the indicated dates," said EA. "You may continue to play the games online up until these dates, but certain community programs may begin to close down prior to the shutdown dates."

Here is the current list of the game servers which will be affected by the shutdown.

Some of these closing is a bit of a shame, but at the same time they're exclusively sports games, which are notoriously bad online unless you have a god-given connection and the servers are next door to your house... Still, I'll miss the occassional Madden 09 game against my mateys! :/
