Click here to see more pictures of Resistence: Fall of Man Here is the snippet of Hands on experience on the PS3 game Resistance: Fall of Man by Firingsquad: The backstory of Resistance takes place in the UK but in an alternate timeline of 1951. World War II never happened in this universe with the planet facing the threat of the Chimera. What are the Chimera? The people demoing the game at the press conference wouldn”t say exactly if they are aliens, demons, or something else except that they are an unknown species that started popping up decades before the start of the game”s storyline and have now overrun all of Europe. Now British and US forces have teamed up to fight the Chimera on UK shores in a last ditch attempt to keep this scourge from taking over the planet. In our brief demo we played in a bombed out UK city with other team members fighting off Chimera forces, from large monsters armed with futuristic weapons to Leapers, fast crab-like creatures that attack in packs. We were armed with more conventional weapons like machine guns, pistols and shotguns. We were told during the demo that some weapons can have as many as three different fire modes which certainly makes the gameplay of Resistance (which in our opinion is pretty straightforward for a shooter) more interesting. Of course, you can have a game with conventional gameplay and still have it be entertaining and Resistance certainly has the potiential to do just that. Mixing the look of a WWII shooter with supernatual and sci-fi elements can do that. In our demo we fought alongside AI controlled human troops against the enemy. One thing you can do is save your troops from being killed by the Chimera which increases your chances of winning the battle. Visually Resistance is very solid with some particularly impressive weapon fire and explosion effects. Click here for more
