Dead Space 2 shooting for Modern Warfare's intensity

Were you a fan of the first Dead Space? Did you enjoy exploring the visceral and unsettling atmosphere of the Ishimura spacecraft? If you did, we might have some bad news for you.
Nick Earl, Head of Visceral Games, recently dropped this information to the press:
"I can tell you that we're a little more focused on action horror as opposed to survival horror. We just created a really beautiful sequence that we're showing internally -- we haven't showed it externally yet, but we will get it out there soon -- that I think speaks to the high voltage nature of the game [...] Some really strong action sequences that I think are on par with the level that we're seeing in the Modern Warfare series and with the level that we're seeing in Uncharted. Just beautiful, visual imagery and very electric action."
We hope this new approach works out for them, but we wouldn't be surprised if it turns out like Resident Evil 5. It's a shame that some developers feel they need to abandon their niche to pursue a mainstream approach to game creation.
Sure, over-the-top action sequences are fun to look at and even more fun to play through, but if everyone starts doing it things start to get diluted pretty quickly.

:( wow really? I loved Dead Space's game-play it was different, which i appreciative and love! They should not change it or the genre to action horror. Leave it as survivor horror!!!!!
Ok, I'll let you off! :P
Nothing was really wrong with it. It's a blast to play, especially with a friend. I was just pointing out that it really didn't have the essence of traditional Resident Evil games.
What was wrong with Resident Evil 5? Ok, it strayed from its survival horror roots a bit, but the game was excellent, and I've followed the RE series since the first game.
So you mean, your going to nearly run out of time whenever you escape. That the helicopter is always running on fumes and the AI's wont do crap to help you and you'll spend the whole game killing everyone for yourself.
