Cross Game Chat and Voice Messages Coming To XMB

Update CydoniaX has posted another comment for clarification, and it isn't good news.

"Guys, some clarification seems to be needed on my above comment, apologies for being misleading. I was talking about voice chat for Home in general being worked on, not specifically about voice chat across games or voice messaging on the XMB. I can see how my quick answer was taken as a confirmation on all 3 items, but this is not the case."

Nice whilst it lasted though, eh?


This is what everyone has been waiting for, and at last we finally hear something about it. Earlier this morning, "CydoniaX" (Home Manager at Sony) posted a message on the Playstation.Blog that pretty much confirmed that we will receive: Voice Chat across games, XMB Voice messaging (30 sec clips) and HOME Game Launching for all games at some point down the line. His exact words were:

"All that stuff is still in development, game launching started with Warhawk and should be supported by all future game spaces now. It takes time, but we haven’t forgotten about all the stuff that our users really want!"

this is wot is happening... i an fellow ps3 owning freinds get almost bullied because we dont have cross game voice chat! so based on that i am very excited about getting it! (if it comes that is) - PS. txt chat is ok if you have a usb keyboard!

Good point, to be honest I'm fine with just having to text friends while playing games, however voice chat would be nice. I can patiently wait for that.

They're working on it, what more do you want? Some people just can't be satisfied, everyone complains that we don't have it, they announce that they're working on it and everyone complains that it's not coming out tomorrow. Christ.
