There is No Overhaul in the XMB's Future

Sony (or, more specifically, Eric Lempel of Sony America) have told CVG that there will be no NXE-type overhaul of the XMB in the future. His main reason is that the XMB is an Emmy Award winning interface - people like it.

Cross Game Chat and Voice Messages Coming To XMB

This is what everyone has been waiting for, and at last we finally hear something about it. Earlier this morning, "CydoniaX" (Home Manager at Sony) posted a message on the Playstation.Blog that pretty much confirmed that we will receive: Voice Chat across games, XMB Voice messaging (30 sec clips) and HOME Game Launching for all games at some point down the line. His exact words were:

"All that stuff is still in development, game launching started with Warhawk and should be supported by all future game spaces now. It takes time, but we haven’t forgotten about all the stuff that our users really want!" Read more »

According to TSA, Pixeljunk's sublime (and damn hard) tower defence-style game Monsters will be getting a patch soon, which will include, but may not be limited to, trophies, XMB custom soundtracks and difficulty levels.
