
In my opinion, film adaptations of beat ‘em ups end up being one of two things: a faithful, accurate, brilliantly choreographed, expertly-executed blockbuster, or an awkward, tasteless, poorly acted 90 minutes-worth of absolute rubbish. It’s all down to preference, I suppose.
So how would Tekken fair as a Silver Screen spectacular? Since Namco’s title hit the PlayStation back in 1994, numerous anime features influenced by the game have emerged from Japan on VHS and DVD, but no movie to speak of thus far. However, after coming across a Tekken movie advertisement on the Japanese Warner Bros. Entertainment website, it looks like we won’t be waiting for The King of Iron Fist Tournament to reach cinemas much longer.
From the poster (which you can view by clicking here), Eddy Gordo, Nina and Anna Williams, Raven, Christie Monteiro, Bryan Fury and the dysfunctional Mishima clan have been confirmed to star in the martial arts mash-up. It’s going to be one hell of a fight!
