If you've been just dying to play that swanky Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer beta that most of us at PS3v have been shooting each other in, you're about to become a very happy bunny (or some other small, furry animal). The beta is now available to download from the Playstation Store. For everybody. It'll run until the game releases on 13th of October, giving you a good 13/14 days to play your adorable little gamer arse off. Go on, then, don't let us keep you.

There's nothing more to say, because you've probably already gone. I'll say something crazy and see if anybody notices; circular cabbages of healing +1.

Anyone who’s anyone will know that the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer public beta began today (or yesterday, given it is now the early hours of Wednesday morning). We were lucky enough to get our hands on some much sought-after participation codes and, a few tens of Deathmatch, Co-op, Plunder and Gold Rush matches later, our verdict is this: Naughty Dog’s upcoming title is every bit as brilliant as media has suggested.

Put simply, it’s fantastic fun. Whether your combat preference is stealth, tactical, camping, or run-and-gun, Uncharted 2’s gameplay caters for all. Moving through the shadows towards an unsuspecting enemy before incapacitating him with a pump-action shotgun was just as gratifying as spraying the opposition outright with erratic AK47 fire and swiping their loot. Both incidents were tremendously enjoyable, in fact.

I’m not going to venture into much more detail; that pleasure is Gamoc’s whom, like me, has spent countless hours immersing himself in what I would describe as gorgeous, lag-less, gun-wielding splendour. But I will say that, as a newcomer to Uncharted, I will definitely be adding Drake's newest adventure to my PS3 game collection - for its multiplayer element alone.

Got anything planned for Tuesday 29th September? If so, you might want to have a rethink after reading this...

At long last, word comes that a multiplayer demo of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be available to all (via the PlayStation Store, we assume) 3 weeks from today. 

Its content? Unknown. Its scope? Also unknown. But apparently its format will differ from that of the closed beta which took place in June.

A short - though very sweet - post for a Tuesday morning, we think you'll agree.

Early Infamous adopters who, as a pre-order perk, were lucky enough to participate in the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves closed multiplayer beta a few months ago might not find this post of much interest. Don’t worry, we will understand.

The rest of us, however, will be pleased to hear that the open online beta has... been delayed. Actually, it’s not very pleasing news, is it?

Originally, the public competitive and cooperative multiplayer trials were due to begin yesterday, running until September 19th. But, when N4G.com contacted Sony and Gamestop about the launch, they discovered the beta is now scheduled to run from September 15th until September 29th. 

That being said, there is a silver lining. In light of the delay, Game Headz Online have a limited number of access codes for September’s beta up for grabs. Furthermore, the lucky few quick enough to nab these will also get the chance to review the end product for GHO’s U-Review IT section, entitling them to a free copy of Uncharted 2 for all their hard work.
