Sony to Speak Out about PS3 Slim

Pocket-Lint has reported that Kazuo Hirai, Head of Sony’s Console Division, will disclose information (and hopefully dispel rumours) about the PS3 Slim during next week's GamesCom conference in Cologne, Germany.

As per our previous post UK Retailers Preparing for PS3 Slim 2009 Release?, we were intrigued by WHSmith’s eagerness to shift PS3s at the reduced price of £200 in order to make room for ‘possible’ new Sony products. If Pocket-Lint’s sources are credible, we could see the trimmer model in stores across the UK and US by Christmas, as suspected.

We’ve even managed to find some interesting images of Sony's new hardware, courtesy of The-Magicbox.com. However, until official details, pictures or release dates arrive direct from Sony, we advise you to have a pinch of salt at the ready - for now, at least.

360 is Maxed Out, PS3 is Not, Says EA

The Senior VP of EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderland, said to the Official Xbox Magazine that the Xbox 360 is maxed out (graphically):

'Sony has a lot of good games this year. If you go to their booth, there's a very consistent, high quality product line-up and that will help them. I do think that we'll see developers inside the organisation getting to understand the PS3 better and I think that we're getting more power out of PS3 right now... I think that we've maxed out the 360 but we haven't maxed out the PS3.'

He also says that he's impressed with Microsoft's motion sensing controller, Natal, and that Sony should have a headache. Still, that's EA saying that the 360 has hit it's graphical peak, whilst the PS3 is still climbing. Read more »
