Well, it was only a matter of time before something had to give. Screenshots of the sequel to the  "Play. Create. Share." genre-definer LittleBigPlanet were leaked yesterday over at CVG.

In an interview with Critical Gamer, Media Molecule has dismissed the possibility of a LittleBigPlanet 2.

But don’t be sad Sackboy lovers; the opinion of Level Designer Danny Leaver is that making a second game would be ‘counterproductive’, as it would more than likely fragment the well-established LBP community, so they do have our best interests at heart.

We think you’ll agree the post-launch support in terms of DLC and software updates has been absolutely first rate, and Producer Martin Lynagh says ‘that’s the way it’s going to continue’, which makes us very happy indeed.

A few days ago, we reported that LittleBigPlanet is getting Water, possibly as part of a future DLC pack. Since then, we’ve found out that Media Molecule is looking for Sackboy fans to participate in the water beta.

All you need to do to qualify is submit your email, PSN ID and Country of Residence details via the beta application page and 'keep your eyes peeled' for further details, as the site suggests.

According to a job listing posted on June 5, 2009, Media Molecule, the developers of LittleBigPlant are working on a "ground-breaking, AAA, PS3 title for Sony Computer Entertainment".
