Golden guns haven’t appeared in a Call of Duty game since Infinity Ward’s 2007 blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but if a remark made by Treyarch’s Multiplayer Design Director David “Vahn” Vonderhaar is to be believed we could see such bling in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Hacking in Black Ops will not be tolerated

It’s fair to say that hack prevention isn’t exactly Infinity Ward’s forte. The developer’s hugely-popular FPS Modern Warfare 2 has been exploited to the nth degree since it launched almost a year ago. We’ve stumbled into modded lobbies, we’ve witnessed players geo-glitching – we’ve even played the hidden multiplayer mode Global Thermonuclear War, and the game’s online leaderboards are crammed with unattainable kill/death ratios, ridiculous high scores and page after page of falsely-earned level 70 10th Prestige ranks.

Amidst the continued litigation with Activision, it's easy to forget that former heads of Infinity Ward Jason West and Vince Zampella are game-designing geniuses. Though their current predicament is undeniably a speed bump in their careers, the two are indeed looking to the future. Today West and Zampella announced their new company, Respawn Entertainment, and as icing on the cake gave Electronic Arts exclusive publishing and distribution rights for all of their future games.
