aragorn-morannon

With the obvious similarities between the Wii and Sony's recently announced Move, you may have been wondering how long before Wii games would be ported to the PS3. Not long, in fact, just a few hours. Warner Bros has announced that The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest will be making an appearance on the PlayStation 3. We talked about this briefly in our podcast, and yes we have one. The full press release can be found below.

Dead Rising 2 Banner

Dead Rising 2, which is the sequel to, well, Dead Rising, is going to feature in Spike TV tomorrow at 12:30am EST. The feature will be the first ever gameplay footage, which is what makes it worth reporting on, as the game is looking excellent.

A broom with a chainsaw taped to each side is possibly the best weapon in a game since the Land Shark Gun in Armed and Dangerous. It may be rivalled by the motorbike with a chainsaw on each handlebar, though.

So you can commence your waiting, thumb twiddling, that kind of thing. Don't twiddle anything else though - that's naughty.

Bioshock 2 Banner

Bioshock 2, the much-awaited sequel to horror/shooter/thing Bioshock (obviously), has finally been given a release date. February 9th, for every console and in every territory, making various other games look shoddily released.

The game features a little sister that's all grown up, now called the Big Sister and with a metal-like costume of her own. She's fast and dangerous, but that might not be too much of a problem for you, as you're the first ever Big Daddy, which makes you big and metal, too. You can dual wield weapons with plasmids and, whilst you're not as strong as the later Big Daddies, you're faster than they are.The game will also have multiplayer. Interesting, eh?

There are many, many people looking forward to the game, and we're amongst them. Lets hope there are no delays.

Uncharted 2 Gets More Stellar Reviews

Uncharted Banner

Everybody on the planet is looking forward to this game, even people who don't have eyes to look with. That doesn't really make any sense, but you get the idea. We're in the multiplayer beta and it's pretty damn great (and world-turningly pretty) but hell, we don't have the game yet, so we can't give our verdicts on it.

However, some people can give verdicts on it, and that's what we're here, in this quaint little post, to talk about. GamesRadar have posted their review, giving it full marks and words so glowing it's harder to stare directly at than the sun. Here's an excerpt for you;

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. It looks amazing, plays like a dream and the voice-acting/story-telling will hook you in right from the off. PS3 officially has its killer-app and a million tears are shed by 360 fanboys.

There's also a review from the Official Playstation Magazine US, one that you obviously can't read online because, well, it's a magazine. We've got an excerpt, courtesy of Metacritic, that says all you really need;

A veritable master class of all-round game development. From a sensational single-player experience that never takes any short-cuts and maintains its story's mythological credibility right to the end to the co-operative online play to the robust, balanced, and just plain fun multiplayer modes, this is a package of content that more than earns its $60 price tag... [It's] this season's biggest PS3 victory. [Nov 2009, p.42]

As you can tell, OPM US' review gave the game full marks, too. We're certain that the game's Metacritic page, available through the link above, will fill up quite quickly with reviews as they release, so keep checking up on it.

What will we give it? Well, we don't know yet, because we haven't played it (come on, Sony!), but you can definitely expect a review at some point. So far, though, the reviews only get us more excited about the final product. We're practically shaking with anticipation.

Just Cause 2 Gets Some Gameplay Footage

Just Cause 2 Banner

Some new Just Cause 2 gameplay footage has crept it's way onto the internet, presumably by blowing it's way through the wall with a rocket launcher. The footage is exceptionally pretty and look very fun. He's got a grappling hook, which is clearly Lost Planet inspired, and he's got a parachute, which is clearly...parachuting...inspired. Or something.

We can't find an easy way to embed it, but you can go see it on this non-English website. All you need to do is click the play button. It's easy, you'll be fine.
