The Splinter Cell Franchise Could Return to PS3

Sure, Splinter Cell Conviction is exclusive to the 360 (at least as far as we know), but the series was originally exclusive to the Xbox and made it's way to other platforms afterwards, so it's not in the realm of impossibility that the franchise will go multiplatform. Again.

In fact, Yannis Mallat, the CEO of Ubisoft's Montreal and Toronto studios, has said the following:

Until futher notice [the franchise is staying on Xbox 360]. However, I'm only the one making the games, you should talk to the people in Paris [for a final answer].

So, is Splinter Cell coming to PS3 again? Well, erm, we don't know. Still, at least we haven't got a straight no, eh?

Agent is PS3 Exclusive because it will 'Help Launch' the Franchise

Ben Feder, that's the big boss man of Take Two, has given his reasons for announcing Agent as a PS3 exclusive at E3. He said to Gamespot on the E3 showfloor:

“The trade-offs a publisher will typically make is, if you’re platform-agnostic, you get a larger installed base, you’re platform exclusive when you get the right kind of support from first parties.”

So they're doing it for the same support they got with GTA III back on the PS2, because the exclusivity can help launch a new franchise. Good stuff. Read more »
