Well, conveniently, the team at Criterion Games is about to expand their stellar Need for Speed title with another premium add-on.

We’ve just received official word from Saint Nicholas, a.k.a. Kris Kringle, a.k.a. Mr Claus, that Christmas is cancelled this year. Don’t bother putting up decorations, unclogging the chimney or amassing mince pies because he’s not coming. Lists won’t get read, stockings won’t get filled, and presents won’t get delivered. Why? Because he’ll be playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam all holiday.

Following the arrival of Medal of Honor (and now Call of Duty: Black Ops), Bad Company 2’s online multiplayer is looking decidedly bare. Explosions of hype and bursts of PR have laid waste to its battlefield, the only remnants being decrepit buildings, blazing vehicles and the odd lonely sniper. But DICE is the Medic of videogame developers; armed with medikits and a trusty defibrillator, the Swedish company plans to revive its critically-acclaimed title by administering a generous dose of new downloadable content.

After receiving news back in September that major concerns regarding the games polish would cause EA Sports' latest basketball sim NBA Elite 11 to be delayed indefinitely, it still comes as a surprise to see that the company have officially cancelled the title altogether; announced during a recent investors call held earlier this week.
