Drake's Adventures won't End with Uncharted 2

The US PlayStation Blog’s Jeff Rubenstein caught up with Naughty Dog’s Creative Director Amy Hennig at the recent Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) to talk all things Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, with reference to a tweet posted during the event inviting questions from the PS3 community.

Besides discussing Naughty Dog work ethics, Uncharted 2 game mechanics and her opinion on crispy bacon, Amy hinted that an Uncharted 3 is by no means out of the question:

‘[Uncharted 2] doesn't conclude the story at all. The expectation with Uncharted is that it can be an ongoing franchise as long as people want more of it. All these stories are self-contained; you don't have to play the last one to play this one. Obviously, you're going to get a little bit more out of it if you have, but [Drake’s] going to have a lot of adventures.’

As Brian Crecente reports, it was during this secret get-together that developer Co-President Evan Wells detailed what to expect from the sequel to Drake’s Fortune:

'Our goal with Uncharted 2 was to make a balanced game that encompasses a diverse mix of gameplay [...] gun combat, hand-to-hand melee, puzzle solving, traversing, exploring, and vehicle sections.'

He went on to say that Uncharted 2 will be a 60/40 split between intense action and puzzle-based adventure, though this will not be obvious to the players. The elements Wells speaks of are seamlessly integrated; one minute you’ll be hopping across platforms looking for switches or artefacts, the next you’ll be gunning down foes.

But with so many likenesses to Eidos’ Tomb Raider series, could we ultimately see Drake replace the lovely Lara? Maybe, but not without first undertaking some serious cosmetic surgery...

The allure of the first PS3 Platinum trophy has kept me glued to Uncharted since the new trophy update. That said, the only trophies that I need are the ones where you have to complete the game on different difficulty levels. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune contains a total of 48 Trophies: 1 Platinum, 3 Gold, 8 Silver and 36 Bronze. Here's how I got mine:

General Tips:
