A Crack in Time

Is A Crack in Time Ratchet and Clank's Last Adventure?

Seven years, seven best-selling PlayStation titles and 16 million recorded sales later, Insomniac might be ready to close the book on intergalactic heroes Ratchet and Clank. In an interview with CNN, Creative Director Brian Allgeier hinted that A Crack in Time provides a certain 'closure', tying up many of the series’ loose ends as the wrench-wielding Lombax and his witty robotic ally fulfil their destinies:

‘Never say never, but people need that closure [...] we hope to be wrapping things up with a bow [...] all I’ll say is we have a couple of surprises at the end of the game.’

It’s not immediately clear, however, whether Allgeier’s comments apply to this particular storyline, or the franchise itself. If A Crack in Time supersedes Tools of Destruction and A Quest for Booty (which we expect it will), maybe we’ll see the dynamic duo return refreshed in later years. Who knows. The harsh reality is that, at some stage, all good things come to an end. Unfortunately, most mind-bogglingly brilliant things do too.

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time releases October 27th in the US, and is expected October 30th in the EU.
