At long last Gearbox Software has confirmed a date and price for the third Borderlands DLC package, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, which will provide trigger-happy vault hunters with another incentive to head out into the arid wastelands of Pandora and rack up their kill counts.

Borderland’s was one of our favourite first-person shooters of 2009. Since its release we’ve been treated to two deep, distinctive and thoroughly enjoyable add-ons for Gearbox Software’s stylised sci-fi gunslinger and to our delight, as Joystiq writes, another is on the way.

The second wave of Borderlands DLC will arrive on January 7^th, 2010. The DLC called 'Mad Maxxi's Underdome Riot' brings an abundance of new goodies including three new arena modes and more rewards, weapons, and XP. But the coolest addition this pack brings is the ability to store your guns and other equipment in a bank, which felt like something missing from the original game. More and more first-person shooters are incorporating a zombie element these days. Following in the footsteps of Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War, Gearbox will be releasing a zombie-oriented DLC package for Borderlands, entitled ‘The Zombie Island of Dr Ned’.

The story goes: a moustache-touting doctor has accidentally zombified the working-class inhabitants of Jakob’s Cove. Predictably, it’s the player’s responsibility to go in and clean up the mess, dismembering, decapitating and decimating enemies of the crawling, stalking, spitting (how uncouth), suicidal and psycho variety across 50 new quests.

The package promises a deep, enjoyable and humorous experience lasting 6-10 hours, and will hit the PlayStation Store November 24th priced at $10 / £7.99. Click here to for a video preview. You’d be stupid not to.
