These Do Not Make Me a Killer

Video games are often blamed for the violent outbursts of children, as are TV and movies. The first time I ever heard of video games being blamed for violence was a few years ago where in the UK, the game "Manhunt" was linked to the murder of Stefan Pakeerah, 14, by his friend Warren Leblanc, 17, on the 27 February 2004. Giselle Pakeerah, the victim's mother, claimed that Leblanc had been 'obsessed' with the game after he pleaded guilty in court, this was thought to be true due to the fashion in which he killed his friend being in line with one of the many methods used in game. I think we can all agree that this is an awful tragedy but back in 2003 when the game was released, I myself was only about 13 or 14 years old and I didn't kill any of my friends, so is it fair to blame the game?
