DC Universe Online Delayed Till Early 2011

dc_universe_online

Earlier today we received word from Sony Online Entertainment that their upcoming MMO DC Universe Online is now delayed until early 2011.

John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment writes: "DC Universe Online is the first game of its kind, and a truly massive undertaking -- the first action MMO set in the DC Universe, the first MMO on the PlayStation®3, and the first time the entire DC Universe will be accessible to the millions of fans who are eagerly anticipating its release. As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way. When we get deeper into external beta, we'll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date."

Stay tuned for more information.

It seems like that, without regular updates on a game's development, the internet sprouts rumours about that game being cancelled. It's like the whole internet has paranoid delusions.

The latest subject of this is The Agency, the PS3-exclusive massively multiplayer shooter from SOE. There have, apparently, been rumours around lately that the game is going to be cancelled, but you can rest assured - Smedley says it's not. It will, however, only be released when it's ready, which is always good, because releasing something when it isn't ready would be stupid.

There's still not real release date, just a vague 'next year'. We assume that, after answering Joystiq's questions, Smedley crouched and sneaked away without anybody noticing until they were suddenly very drowsy from the sleeping gas that was filling the room. That might just be wishful (awesome) thinking, though.

The Agency Website has Changed

Agency Banner

The site for Sony's upcoming massively multiplayer online shooter, The Agency, has changed. Last time we reported on it, it was pretty bare, but for a pretty damn great animation of a smoking gun (image above) and a few small pieces of info on the two sides you'll be able to play as in the game. Now, however, it looks completely different and has some more interesting sections.

It features a trailer, which is wonderfully comical as well as cool in places (slow motion flips!) and completely CGI, the feed for the game's Twitter, and a few other pages. The two pages are Intel, which contains some info on the game, and a media page, with screenshots, concept art, IM icons and wallpapers.

Most interestingly, though, is the 'Now Recruiting' buttons on the main page. It looks like you're be able to sign up for a beta. Nope, it's not a beta registration at all, it's a comedy questionnaire. Do it anyway - it's funny. Read more »
