The Senior VP of EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderland, said to the Official Xbox Magazine that the Xbox 360 is maxed out (graphically):

'Sony has a lot of good games this year. If you go to their booth, there's a very consistent, high quality product line-up and that will help them. I do think that we'll see developers inside the organisation getting to understand the PS3 better and I think that we're getting more power out of PS3 right now... I think that we've maxed out the 360 but we haven't maxed out the PS3.'

He also says that he's impressed with Microsoft's motion sensing controller, Natal, and that Sony should have a headache. Still, that's EA saying that the 360 has hit it's graphical peak, whilst the PS3 is still climbing. Read more »

Metal Gear Solid Rising is NOT 360 Exclusive

It seemed like it was implied in the conference, but it turns out that the next Metal Gear Solid game will not be exclusive to the Xbox 360. You can breath a collective sigh of relief. Unclench your buttcheeks. Stop biting your lip. Etc.

It hasn't been confirmed that it'll be on the PS3 yet, but we're betting it will be. Where else would it go? The Wii? Though we do know that there's going to be a new PSP Metal Gear game...

Well, it's not 360 exclusive. That's what we should take away from this. That and that Microsoft should state things more clearly in their conferences. 'The next 10 games we present are never before seen before and exclusive to the 360.' Did he think we'd count the games as they were shown? Read more »

You may have heard from multiple sources earlier today that Tony Hawk Ride will be Xbox 360 exclusive in the UK. Well, don't worry about that (if you cared anyway), because it's not. Activision screwed up an announcement, apparently. They told VG247;

'Further to the erroneous information which was distributed this morning regarding Tony Hawk: RIDE, we would like to clarify that the game is due to be released on the following platforms: Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™ home video game system.

We apologise for the confusion caused by this morning’s mail out and we would be grateful if you could update your coverage to reflect the correct details above.'

Well, glad that's been sorted out. Tea, anyone?

Or so says the game's producer, anyway. When asked by NowGamer, the game's director, David Cage, said that the game would not run on the 360, as it is designed specifically to take advantage of the PS3's hardware.

'I think this game can only be done on Playstation 3,' he said, 'we used all the SPUs.' Followed by; "I think to do the visuals, and all the stuff we’re doing would be too difficult [on the 360]. There are amazing physics there, and stuff with crowds that you just couldn’t really get."

Of course, this is the kind of thing you'd expect him to say, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. Probably. Read more »
