Got scared, didn’t you? Don’t worry, Sony announced during their GDC conference that Gran Turismo 5 will indeed release this year. Unfortunately, a specific release date was not announced. On the bright side, it’s releasing this year.

News comes from an official (and confusedly translated) PlayStation.com press release that the Japanese launch of Gran Turismo 5 has been pushed back from March to April 2010.

Sony just announced that Gran Turismo PSP will land on store shelves October 1.
Gran Turismo PSP has over 800 cars, and 35 tracks to race on.
Yamauichi emphasizes that it’s not a shrunken down version of Gran Turismo, but a complete game in it’s own right. Cars will be tradeable and shareable between friends.
