After a ridiculously long wait, we may finally see PlayStation Network cards arrive in Europe. Asian markets have had them for ages, the US and Canada caught up months ago, but so far the poor Europeans have been left out of the loop altogether. Needless to say, PS3 gamers in the EU without the use of [...]

As the title suggests, new screenshots of Final Fantasy XIV have been released into the World Wide Web, along with the alpha footage that was on show at Gamescom. Does anyone know what this Gamescom thing is that everyone’s been talking about?
While we try to suppress our sarcasm, head over to Joystiq.com and have a gander [...]

In a ‘behind-closed-doors’ meeting at this week’s Gamescom (it’s been all go there, hasn’t it?), Naughty Dog spokesperson Arne Meyer walked privileged members of the press through a previously unseen level taken from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. As Brian Crecente reports, it was during this secret get-together that developer Co-President Evan Wells detailed what to [...]

I bet you’re all wondering what the PlayStation Store has… um, in store, for us this week, aren’t you? Wonder no more.
Four brand new demos are now available for download: WET, a fast-paced and extremely gory third person shooter (think Kill Bill-meets-Wanted), the deadly but adorable Mini Ninjas, a World War II aerial combat title called IL2 Sturmovik: [...]

If you can cast your mind back to yesterday’s LittleBigPlanet GOTY Edition post, you might remember the brief mention of a new ‘Play, Create, Share’ game called ModNation Racers: the do-it-yourself karting experience that allows players to create their own wacky characters and courses to play and share online, strangely enough.
Well, at Gamescom 2009, San Diego [...]

The PS3 Slim has finally been officially announced by Kaz Hirai at GamesCom, together with a price cut for the existing PS3. As you can see above, it’s sinfully ugly. It doesn’t even have the awesome touch-sensitive buttons anymore, and it’s managed to get ugly, black lettering. It looks generally tacky and cheap.
However, it’s got [...]

PSN is going to be down during Sony’s conference today at GamesCom (6pm if you live in England). Obviously, Sony have given the usual reason, saying it’s ’scheduled maintenance’, but with this ’scheduled maintenance’ falling dead on top of their conference, it’s going to take a lot more than that to convince us that it’s [...]

It seems that a new Playstation game, called Dead Nation, is going to be announced at GamesCom tomorrow. The game has appeared in Eurogamer.de’s list of titles that will be present at the show, juxtaposed amongst the usual high profile Sony suspects, such as MAG, Gran Turismo PSP, God of War III, etc.
We don’t know [...]

Pocket-Lint has reported that Kazuo Hirai, Head of Sony’s Console Division, will disclose information (and hopefully dispel rumours) about the PS3 Slim during next week’s GamesCom conference in Cologne, Germany.
As per our previous post UK Retailers Preparing for PS3 Slim 2009 Release?, we were intrigued by WHSmith’s eagerness to shift PS3s at the reduced price of [...]

Sony have confirmed their game line-up for GamesCom later this month. They’re bringing the big guns, tanks and helicopters, right there. Please note that this list isn’t everything that will be there, it’s just the things that we know will definitely be there, so if your favourite game has been missed there’s still a little [...]

First up in our news catch-up, SCEE have confirmed that they’re going to have a 3 (three) hour conference at GamesCon in Cologne in August. What does this mean? Well, everyone there reporting it is going to run out of battery power, but other than that, it means they’ve got big things planned.
Price cut? PS3 [...]
