While on paper this makes for an intriguing shooter, Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment’s title lacked substance, remembered [...]

“F***ing boring”: Stuart Black’s thoughts on current FPSs

I don’t know about you, but I love a good swear from time to time. I find first-person shooters in particular (Modern Warfare 2 being the main culprit) encourage expletives to gush from my mouth at a speed comparable to that of the gallons that cascade down Niagara Falls. Wow, what a picture that paints…
So when [...]

Review: BioShock 2

The original BioShock is widely revered for its story telling mastery. Not only did it prove that it’s possible for a video game to feature a plot every bit as engaging as its film and literature counterparts, it also introduced gamers to one of the most unique and twisted worlds around: Rapture. Arguably the star of the show, Andrew Ryan’s [...]

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Battlefield: Bad Company 2: historic warfare?

It has come to our attention that the explosive and epically atmospheric sequel to Battlefield: Bad Company might not be as ‘with the times’ as we originally thought. According to the ESRB synopsis of DICE’s first-person shooter, the first few missions of Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s single player campaign will be set in Wold War II.

Gearbox Software announces Borderlands’ third DLC package

Borderland’s was one of our favourite first-person shooters of 2009. Since its release we’ve been treated to two deep, distinctive and thoroughly enjoyable add-ons for Gearbox Software’s stylised sci-fi gunslinger and to our delight, as Joystiq writes, another is on the way.
