Confused? Don’t be, it’s simple. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (obviously), has dropped the ‘Call of Duty:’ bit, so it’s not just called ‘Modern Warfare 2′. Awesome. Game releases in the fourth quarter. Press release is after the break.

As completely unexpected as it is that an important company employee would say that their own game is looking good, Thomas Tippl, CFO of Activision, has gone and done it anyway. He says that the sequel to the painfully good and popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ‘looks incredible’.

This list is fake,” posted Infinity Ward programmer Rayme “Rayme” Vinson on the NeoGAF message boards. “I mean; I can’t get into how-much-if-any is true, how much is false, etc (there’s a reason why companies “don’t comment on rumors”… it would NEVER F***ING END), but this list wasn’t put together by anyone with any insider information. There’s also some craziness that should red-flag this as “stuff I made up and wrote down” (like grass camo for snipers… that’s straight out of CoD4 MP).”

The mappack for COD 4 (the one that 360 owners already have) is set to be released on 24th April (next week) in the US. Guess what? Us Europeans have been screwed over slightly again, because we’re only going to get it on May 4th, according to QJ.net.

Infinity Ward’s highly acclaimed (and thoroughly excellent) Call of Duty 4 has just passed the nine million mark in sales since launching in November. No really – nine million. If you take into account the length of time it has been on shelves that is a pretty serious return on investment.

Everyone current favourite shooter has been patched today, to version 1.2. It’ll automatically download and install when you start the game (provided your PS3 is connected to the internet), and it’s only 12mb, so it shouldn’t take long.
