That’s right Blu-Ray fans, HD-VD just had a *ton* of nails driven in its casket. Toshiba, one of the initial backers of the HD-DVD format has decided that they will cease production and development of HD-DVD players.

It appears that the US’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, has just announced that it’s Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores across the country will be carrying Blu-ray products exclusively, and will phase out the lose commercially popular HD DVD format.
