You may have heard through the proverbial wine vine rumours that a “modified”, “multi-platform” Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is on Rockstar Games’ agenda. This rating, published on the Australian government’s Classification Database yesterday, has led many to wonder whether a PSN port of the said title is in production. Could it be true?

Details recently scoured from SEGA’s PR FTP site have unveiled some interesting nuggets of information regarding future Sony plans, including the potential revelation that PS2 titles will soon be coming to the PlayStation Store.

John Koller, Sony’s Director of Hardware Marketing, has been kind enough to address a number of frequently-asked questions that have passed gamers’ lips of late (concentrating on the approaching PS3 Slim, unsurprisingly) in an interview with Ars Technica.

The emotion engine is the CPU chip in PS2s and the first backwards compatible PS3s. It essentially enables the playing of PS2 games. So, if Sony patent emulation of this emotion engine, it logically leads to speculation that PS2 backwards compatibility is on it’s way to a PS3 near you, via firmware updates.
