Bowling tweets Modern Warfare 2 Leaderboard Reset before Release
Many CoD-ers have been expressing fears that when they receive their copy of Modern Warfare 2 in eight days time they will be obliterated in online multiplayer, by those lucky enough to have nabbed an early copy of the game and unlocked many of the perks and attachments – if not all of them.
They need not worry, however; 11 hours ago (at time of writing) Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling tweeted that leaderboards and ranks will be wiped before public release to level the playing field:
‘It definitely looks like a full leaderboard / level reset is in order just before the release date to ensure no unfair advantages.’
Now all he needs to do is break their thumbs and we’re in business.

Thats bull crap of a game reset what if you dont have a ps3 or 360 and you get one next year are you going to reset the game so we can all be on the same plying field…. i think they are wrong for trying to pull that they need to leave it alone and let the game roll on they way its going i saw people with it that were up to a level 45 but they still suck… there is no unfair advantage to monder warefare your either good or you suck no matter what rank you are or what perks you have or unlock….
Um, yeah there is. Have you not played CoD before? They’d have the more powerful weapons unlocked, more perks – they’ll already know the maps inside-out… it’s all advantegous. It’s a headstart regardless. Duh.
I agree with Steve123. Regardless of the reset, they’ll also know where to camp to get a nice amount of kills. Though, the ranks and etc being wiped might give a bit of fairness to the deal. They may be able to camp, and know the maps.. but we will all have the same weapons to start with. I enjoy nailing campers. Those of you who received the game before street date, that’s all well and good if you’re interested in the campaign. But to be on the multiplayer learning the maps, that’s just lame. Especially since the confirmation of ranks being wiped and a possible ban on all people who fraudulently broke street date.. I don’t think it was really worth obtaining an illegal copy unless you’re just that bored. In any case, it’ll all work out for the best, unless infinity ward fucks something up.
that is total B.S., i have modern warfare 2 before release date and it is gonna suck to have everything reset, there is no point either, because the players will still know what to expect and are still the same skill level, just without better guns
I have a pre-release copy of mw2 and i think that the reset is the fairest thing that IW can do. People like me that have been playing the game for a few days have a huge advantage by knowing the maps! It would be even worse for me to still have my scar with acog and suppresser when everybody else hasnt even unlocked the gun yet!!!

thats bull shit i live in australia and i got the game at the midnight lauch early this morning im lvl 35 and played for 7 hours and i got it when it was released for the leader boards to be whiped and my stats not count any more. siriously wtf infinity ward u shuda whiped it b4 november 10th any where in the world its a bit l8 to do it now!
i have had the game since the saturday before street release date, and all i can say is that microsoft won’t ban 300,000 people for getting a real copy of the game legally. that would be fucking retarded on their part (think of how much money they would lose). this one is to shawn- good luck nailing those campers when u get the game… u will fail!!! i had a 3.45 k/d ratio in cod4 and im not a camper. I have a 39.00 w/l ratio in mw2 with a 1.79 k/d ratio. the game supports campers! I haven’t lost a game yet, but i cant manage to pick off the fucking campers, its worse then anyone thinks. by the way a reset while a little annoying, is not going to matter now, i have every map already memorized and i know all the choke points. the reset should just not happen, it won’t make a difference. we all have 1 up on the rest of u.

I’ve had the game since last Friday, as my pre-order arrived early in order to beat the UK postal strikes. I have a high rank. I have a higher k/d than I have on CoD4 and WaW. And you know what? My world won’t come to an end if I have to do it all again.
It is, after all, just a game. The playing field should be level for all come release day. If you’re that good, it won’t take you long to re-achieve your rank and perks.

If you dont have a xbox 360 or ps3 then you shoouldnt give a fuck about the reset anyway. And yea if your stats are as good as you guys say then it shouldnt be hard to get back there dumb fucks, quit your bitchin its just a game
That was amusing to say the least. I got the game at the midnight launch, and continued to nail campers through-out my time playing it. 11hrs total, 1,750 kills. 945 deaths? Domination, play for kills, screw the capture. Also, If you know the choke points, you could pick off campers easily. Especially on Quarry, Derail and Estate, to name a few. The camping spots are so obvious. Run & Gun Scar – 30K 3D. Campers are garbage.
