Best Buy says enough of Playstation 3 20gigs

Best Buy PS3 20gig

I have been wondering about this for a long time as to why we would need two separate versions. The subtle difference of the cost is only $100 but the hardware difference is absurd to a point that it make no sense to buy 20gig. You get more hard drive space obviously with 60gig, an array of memory slots, and Wi-Fi added. Just wow is all I can say. Sony should of just produced 60gig instead of wasting money on manufacturing 20gigs. Maybe they could of prevented some of its 1.5 billion dollars in production cost.

According to Joystiq, a reliable Best Buy employee has sent in a document or a piece of paper confirming the company’s decision to discontinue the 20gig version. This does not mean that Sony is pulling 20gig off the manufacturing process but rather displays the amount of interest in 20gig version. I just can’t comprehend it took this long for Best Buy to realize that 20gig with its features compared to 60gig aren’t appealing to next gen gamers. Who in the world is gonna run the RJ45 (cable wire ) all the way to their routers across the freaking room? Who in the world is gonna be satisfied with 20gigs of space when Sony is planning to introduce “Social networking medium” for Playstation 3 owners which means more room needed to download user oriented media files, demos, and other stuff. People are already interested in upgrading their hard drive to 100gig plus!!

I would hoped that other retailers will follow this suit and a realization will settle in with Sony. Maybe.. just maybe, we can pay $499 for 60gig soon.

  1. It is about time that is happening. There is a varing degree of confusion as to which systems to buy from people who are interested in next gen system.

  2. Well then if that’s the case – and Sony were losing so much more on 20gb models, then they should just drop the 60gb model by $100 and be done with it…they’ll lose, what, $20 more?

  3. That’s sad. The 20GB is such a better deal, not to mention it looks a lot sexier. The 60GB version looks too..flashy!!

  4. So, when will the 60GB model be discontinued?

  5. Vroom are you a Xbox 360 fanboy? Go away and never to come back!
