Today marks the release of Bonfire of the Vanities, Ubisoft’s second piece of DLC for Assassin’s Creed II. Rather than recommend you invest in this add-on blindly, we thought we’d give you a quick plot synopsis and a glimpse of the content itself.

Continuing on from last month's Battle of Forli, Bonfire of the Vanities tells the tale of Luddite priest Girolamo Savonarola, who believes that the Renaissance is impacting negatively on the world, eschewing the moral corruption of Renaissance thought. When he takes control of the city in de' Medici's absence and acquires the Apple of Eden, it is Ezio’s job to free the people Florence from Savonarola’s tyranny and recover the treasured artefact.
