An old flame is to be revived?

FF VII

We all know that the people at Square Enix have been teasing us with the possibility of Final Fantasy VII remake (considered by the masses as one of the best entries in the FF series). Recently we saw that Mr Toriyama, director for the recent FF XIII, say he would like to remake this title if he had the team and resources to do it.

If this wasn’t enough to whip up our appetite, the CEO of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada has now revealed that they are currently exploring the possibility of remaking FF VII. Speaking during an interview with the folks at Siliconera, Wada stated that they had no clear direction at the moment and decided to look at the remake possibility due to the huge demand for FF VII to be brought back. The CEO also stated, “We’re going to explore the possibility – whether or not we’re going to do it, if we’re going to do it, and the platform.”

So where does this leave us at the moment? Well I would say that the possibility of a remake just got slightly bigger but I am concerned about which platform they will bring it back on. I hope they learnt their lesson on going multiplatform and stick to the console which does best for them.
