Apparently, the PS3 sales in Japan are so stagnant that retailers are slashing the price by 20%. There has been indication of slow sales in Japan as well as North America. With weak launch titles and lack of immediate release of marquee titles, the sales of PS3 system have dropped off significantly since the launch. The retailers in Japan are offering less money for the used PS3 units. The 20% sale only applies to the 20 GB model which is priced at 39,980 yen ($329). Apparently, lack of Blu-ray titles for rental has also attributed to the slow down in PS3 sale. I don?t think I ever remember new system getting its price slashed so early.
